How female spaces can boost your energy levels

It’s hard keeping up the productivity and standards in today’s society. We want to prove ourselves. We deserve a career, material success, and time with our families.

But sometimes we can push ourselves so hard we forget to meet our needs.

And because everyone around us is exhausted, busy, pushing, it feels like it must be ok.

But when we come together and have real communication with our fellow caregivers and multi tasters we find that actually there are other ways.

Sometimes I feel guilty for not being as busy as I used to be.

But then I remember I am enough as I am, I have enough on my plate and enough space to support my own needs (most of the time).

I run regular workshops, retreats and classes that are woman* only spaces.

I think Men are great. But the great white patriarchy does dominate a lot of our lives.

And when you bring women together, to connect, share and explore wellbeing, menopause and ageing something magic happens.

It becomes easier to see space and opportunity to do things different.

It can be as simple as strategies for meal planning and shopping

  • One of my daughter’s friend’s Mum shared how she does her shopping lists as a shared task list on her phone…which makes it much easier to plug the gaps for either her or her husband. Game changer. Simple and effective and less in my head.

  • Another time a friend recommended the Roasting Tin cookbooks to me - another game changer - simple, tasty meals in one tin.

It can be ways to nurture and nourish relationships

  • One pal has estabilshed a regular walking break with her husband as a way to connect in the week when they both work from home. A simple way to get both conversation, connection, and some exercise.

It can be ways to support ourselves through the hormone shifts of menopause

  • Several people in my groups recommended a local GP who was really understanding of menopause and HRT.

It can be ways to support you through difficult life changes

  • This could be relationship break ups, dealing ageing parents, or difficult health diagnoses.

Connection and community can boost your wellbeing in more ways that just the social connection.

If you’re near Bristol and would like to find out about my monthly women’s wellbeing workshops and retreat days, drop me a line.

*they are also open to people who menstruate but don’t identify as female and to those who identify as female and find mixed gender spaces hard to be in. I’m keen to ensure I don’t exclude these groups, and know I could be more inclusive in my language!
